The Local Pacific Beach brunch tips

  • Brunch is served on weekends until 2:00pm: come hungry on Saturdays or Sundays, but don’t wait too long because brunch shuts down right at 2:00pm and the most popular items can sell out earlier in the day.

  • Start with the Big Wet Breakfast Burrito if you're starving: stuffed with scrambled eggs, potatoes, mixed cheese, black beans, and your choice of sausage, bacon, or steak, then drenched in tomatillo suiza and enchilada sauces, it’s the messiest, tastiest thing on the menu.

  • The Champagne Tower is the showstopper: get three liters of bubbly and two juices served in a towering dispenser. It’s Insta-worthy and perfect for birthdays, bachelorettes, or group brunches.

  • The Skrewball Bananas Foster French Toast is dessert for breakfast: brioche is soaked in peanut butter whiskey and topped with fresh bananas, pecans, and cocoa powder. It’s boozy, sweet, and one of their most unique offerings.

  • The Loco Moco brings Hawaiian comfort to PB: this Pacific twist on the classic comes with a burger patty, fried spam, sticky rice, two eggs, and house gravy. It’s salty, rich, and surprisingly satisfying.

  • Brunch bingo on Sundays adds a wild card vibe: follow them on social to catch when they’re hosting Bingo Brunch. It’s rowdy, hilarious, and one of the most fun daytime events in PB.

  • Sit on the front lawn patio for dog-friendly day drinking: dogs are welcome on the lawn until 8:00pm, and it’s a prime spot for sunshine, people-watching, and relaxing with a Bloody Mary or Michelada.

  • Service is fast and friendly, even on game days: even during busy sports events, the servers keep drinks flowing and food hot—just get there early if you want a good view of the TVs.

The Local Pacific Beach Brunchspotter review

NICK B.

CONTRIBUTOR

The Local Pacific Beach doesn’t try to reinvent brunch. It just leans into what it knows: bold, beachy plates, easy cocktails, and a laid-back scene that blends into the rest of the weekend. The crowd is a mix of locals, Bills fans on game days, and brunch groups working through bottomless pours. The vibe is casual and social, with enough patio light to keep the energy up even before the mimosas start flowing. The Awesome Breakfast is a full plate situation: pancake sliders, eggs, loaded breakfast potatoes, and your pick of bacon or sausage. It’s not refined, but it’s exactly what it promises to be. For something sweeter, the Skrewball Bananas Foster French Toast lives up to its name, and the Big Wet Breakfast Burrito offers a slightly chaotic but satisfying combination of scrambled eggs, mixed cheeses, tomatillo suiza, and both bacon and sausage if you want it all. The Carnitas Benedict has more complexity, with roasted poblano and ancho hollandaise doing the heavy lifting. Champagne towers and DJ-fueled brunch bingo round out the draw here. It’s not polished, but it’s not supposed to be. The Local is where PB goes to eat well, drink freely, and start the day on its own terms. Come for the food, stay for the fun, and expect to leave full.
